Instructions and Tips for using the Pre-Milled Soap Base

This makes approximately 500 grams of Soap

Option 1:

1.  Place 341 grams of pre-milled soap in a stainless steel saucepan. Make sure that the saucepan is not too big as you want your soap to melt slowly without burning.

2.  Add 255 grams of water.

3.  Gently Stir the soap and water just enough to mix them.

4.  Place the soap on the stove with very low heat. Your goal is to heat the soap gradually without it reaching boiling.

5. Stir soap gently to make sure the soap is not sticking to the bottom of the pan. You don’t want to over stir it and create suds. Allow the bottom layer to heat up and then fold it over to the top and let the next layer heat up. From time to time you may need to add a bit of water or you could add hyrdrosols, flora waters or a favourite oil like calendula.

6. When the soap has become a umiform paste (this could take an hour) remove it from the heat and stir it gently till it’s between 66-71 degrees centigrade.

7. Just before pouring it into the molds add your color, scent or additives. It will be helpful to lightly grease your mold with vegetable oil.

9. Place the soaps in a dry warm place. Turn them regularly until they are completely dry and hard.

10.  NOTE This soap will never become liquid like cold process soap.  It will retain the appearence of mashed poatoe.

THIS IS MY PREFERRED OPTION TO WORK WITH THIS SOAP.

Option  2:

Place 341 grams of the pre-milled soap along with 225 gram of water (this will be trial and error and also depedent on the outside temperature) into a heat proof bowl.  A round casserole dish is a good option.

2. Place into an oven at 100 degrees and heat in the oven stirring regulary until the base has become semi-fluid.  Remember that it will never become fluid again.

3. Once semi-fluid remember to add in your color, scent and additives like flower petals.

4. It will be more a case of push pour into your mold.  You may need to trim of the edges the next day once cooled and set.
